Capital District Massage is less than a year old, with already a strong following of regular clients who take advantage of its convenient online scheduling, ideal location with off-street parking, and affordable prices that include frequent sales and discounted massage series.
The best part about Capital District Massage is the staff of personable massage therapists who give extremely nurturing and professional therapeutic massages.
We are not set up like a spa or large clinic, so each client has time and space to come in, talk to his or her therapist about the massage, and get changed without feeling rushed or claustrophobic.
Hypo-allergenic, high quality oil and lotion

Capital District Massage reserves the right to charge the full amount of service if a client cancels on the same day of his or her appointment or does not show up. This is out of respect for our massage therapists' time, our overhead expenses, and other clients who want to schedule appointments. Thank you for your understanding.
Massage Ethics and Personal Boundaries
Capital District Massage only provides therapeutic massage, which means that our massages are not meant to be arousing or sexual in any way. We abide by New York State Law at all times, keeping genitals covered at all times, and maintaining the highest level of professionalism.
Sometimes it is natural for client arousal to occur during a therapeutic massage even if that's not the therapist's intention. Massage moves fluid through the body and this can have an affect on sexual organs. If this happens, the client should try to stay relaxed and not be embarrassed. The client has the right to tell his or her massage therapist to stop what they're doing, or end the session at any time if he or she feels uncomfortable.
The massage therapist also has the right to end the session at any time if she feels uncomfortable. Sexual requests, masturbation, touching the massage therapist, or flirtation with the massage therapist are unacceptable and will result in immediate termination of the session with full payment due.
Therapeutic massage combines Swedish and deep tissue strokes to promote full body relaxation while also targeting any tight or sore areas. Talk to your massage therapist about your goals for the session and let her know how the pressure feels during the massage. For example you can get a relaxing full body massage or just a deep tissue massage for your back, neck and shoulders, depending on your personal preference.
It's your massage, so feel free to communicate with your therapist about any specific areas that you want extra time on or what kind of massage strokes you enjoy most. Read more or schedule an appointment.
4 Hands Massage
4 Hands Massage is a magical experience unlike anything you've ever felt before. Two therapists massage one client at the same time. Some massage strokes are synchronized, while other strokes are performed on different body parts to compliment each other. 4 Hands Massage is best for people who want to surrender their brain to full body relaxation. The amount of fluid movement in the body and overall relaxation of muscles is equivalent to twice the amount of regular therapeutic massage.
4 Hands massage might not be enjoyable to clients who prefer to "follow" their massage therapist's hands, since many report not being able to tell one therapist from another. Having two massage therapists can either feel very relaxing or distracting depending on how your mind works during your massage. If you're someone who just wants to let go completely, then you will benefit from a 4 Hands Massage.

Massage Therapy and What to Expect
Draping: Therapeutic massage is performed on a massage table with massage oil or cream. The table has clean sheets changed after every massage. You may undress completely for the massage or keep some of your clothes on – it is your choice.
Your therapist will leave the room so you can get ready in private and lay down on the table underneath a sheet or pillow case. Some people prefer a full sheet and blanket covering, while others opt for a pillow case or towel for less coverage. Let your therapist know what works best for you. Draping is required by New York State Law.
Medical History: At Capital District Massage, we strive to be an environmentally friendly business. This is why we don't give clients paper intake forms to fill out. We keep all of our client records on a secure private online system.
If you have any medical concerns or allergies, please notify your therapist verbally and she will record it on your electronic file and provide a safe massage according to your needs.
Before the massage, tell your therapist if you're seeking a full body massage or only massage on certain areas. Let her know if you've had any recent injuries or parts that should be avoided. During the massage, speak up if you feel the pressure is too light, too deep, or not in the right spot.
You're welcome to tell your therapist to spend more time in one spot, as well. We are here to listen to your needs and give you the massage you want, so please let us know if there's anything we can do to better serve you!
Gratuities: Capital District Massage is a no-pressure zone, where tips are appreciated but not required. Some say that massage therapists should be tipped for a job well done because a large fraction of the price of massage goes towards business expenses. Others argue that massage therapists don't need to be tipped because they are health professionals. We leave that decision up to you and whatever suits your budget. The highest compliment you can give your massage therapist is the referral of your friends and a positive review!
Side effects: Therapeutic massage is a safe and effective way to relieve stress and ease muscular pain, however, some mild side effects may occur within one or two days after a massage. Not everyone experiences side effects, but the most common are fatigue and slight soreness especially if deep tissue knots were massaged.
The best way to avoid feeling sore after a massage is to drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins that were released during the massage. Stretching also helps. If you're not sure what to do, ask your massage therapist to show you some stretches you can easily practice at home. Make sure to rest and get a good night's sleep after massage.
Another normal side effect you might experience is release of emotion. You will eventually feel lighter after your body naturally processes the emotions that were stored in your tissues.
